First book of the year complete! Today I committed to completing “Sell or be sold” By Grant Cardone. It’s a book on selling, getting more familiar with Sales tactics and how to get better and more comfortable with selling. I read an article a few years ago that the average CEO reads about 60 books per year, I don’t know how much merit this statistic has, and I don’t subscribe to following everything I read on the internet, but I do find tremendous value in making better habits for myself and reading & learning new information and skills is a great habit to have.
With each new year comes the opportunity for new chapters of growth and personal evolution. As long as I can remember the New Year has been in my top 3 annual celebrations mainly because of the unavoidable call to self-reflect on the closing year and how that year has been regarding personal achievements, contributions, challenges, victories, and failures, gains, and losses. I look forward to challenging myself each year to clearly define areas of opportunity to grow and contribute to my community, family, friends, and how to be a better person and a more valuable business owner.
It as a great book and I recommend it to anyone who has professional goals as the main ideal of the book is that no matter what you are doing in life, you are always selling or being sold to, and this has nothing to do with, making money fundamentally, but instead how well you can communicate the value of the service you offer on one side, and how sold you have to be in order to be a successful buyer on the other side. I had no real training in sales before this book and had only had brief interactions with sales tactics here or there. I know have a renewed respect for real salespeople and I don’t mean the people who just want to take your money and sell you products that you may not even need. I mean people who truly know the Importance of knowing how to offer value and who master the art of finding out what you need and how they can help solve your challenge.
If you haven’t already set your goals for the year and defined which ways you will evolve and better of greater service to your communities, I encourage you to do so, the sooner the better so that at the close of 2024 you have much to look back on as a reference to your next chapter of growth and development. I took the time to write this article today because I know the value of taking time to really connect with the things that are necessary for our growth and for me, learning and mastering new skills is one of those things. I hope this has encouraged you even a little to make time for the valuable things that will help you reach your goals, and that you can also share it forward to encourage the members in your communities to do the same.
